Buy journals, or notebooks or something! And stuff to write with. You should each bring a journal. That's my advice - your days are going to be busy and full and if you don't write about stuff it'll all sort of blend together as you try and remember it all later.

Good idea! I'll add it to the list.

will there be adequate power/internet capability for a laptop and the right voltage connections??
and since it's summer in Costa Rica is a sleeping bag necessary or will a thin sheet sleep-sack suffice (available at Hostelling INternational stores or make your own from two sheets sewn together and then in 1/2 like a sleeping bag)?

a hat, ibuprofen (advil), a small cake of soap in case where you are staying doesnt have any, girly necessities, hydrogen peroxide for cuts, small tube of polysporin, bandaids, pencil (since pens can explode en route resulting in hideous inky messes), camera...

Alright! This is what I was hoping for!

Note: As for the power supply - where there is power, apparently it's the kind of power we need. As for the sleeping bag - the birthday boy got a fancy one with a sheet on one side and a blanket on the other. The idea is that if it is hot, you sleep on the blanket and have the sheet on top, and vice versa if it's cold. Super nice. As for me, I'm doing the make-shift sheet/fleece I did in Cambodia.

I've decided I won't keep adding suggested items to the list on the post - it will just get too long! But, believe me, I"m adding them to the pack list.

Thanks guys, but keep 'em coming!

calamine lotion for bug bites, mosquito spray to prevent the aformentioned, 1 pair of runner and 1 pair of open toed walking sandals that could potentially double as nice shoes. extra big ZIPLOC freezer bags. they carry wet small amts of wet clothes effectivly if you dont have time to dry them off and you never know when you will need an extra waterproof bag to carry/protect things...
DO NOT bring candy or chocolate or even accidentally forget thim in a side pocket, because they will a) melt b)you will have very unfriendly ants and creepy crawlies swarming you and your bag the next day...
