Pana-mania

As we get closer to Panama time, we are starting to get a bit clearer idea of what this is actually going to look like. My co-worker sent me a picture of the house she is renting in San Felix. That's the 'city' we will be living in.

Sweet, eh!?!?!
It has everything. Well, except furniture, a fridge, a stove, a kitchen sink...
(Everything but the kitchen sink ;)

Tom and I are super excited about finding a place for us to stay too. My friend is more than excited to have us stay with her if we needed - considering its a bit tricky finding something to rent in a city of 1049! (Well, I guess 1050, now that my friend moved there!)
I've been reading some traveler's blog about the area too. San Felix is just off of the highway that leads from Panama City to David (David is the capital city of the Chiriqui province, which San Felix is situated). Click either of these to see it on google maps:

Backpackers have reported that the town has *nothing* in it, but check out the place where they stay (about 15kms down the road - on the ocean front!) If anyone is interested in coming to Panama for a visit - this is where you can stay!

So excited,
so excited!

We will keep you 'posted' as we learn more about it ourselves.

Have you decided on whether or not you want to go on the other trip in the interim?

We have definitely decided that we want to go, but we still don't know if we can go. There is a meeting this coming Thursday (that we have been oh-so-patiently waiting for) that will clear up a lot of those questions that stand in the way of us booking our flights this very minute...Like the exact dates of the trip, how much it is going to cost and if there are fundraising opportunities, etc. As you know, the timing needs to be 'just right' in order for this to be a possibility. And the finances, well, are a given - Uganda is a long way away, we need to bring a lot of resources with us, and we need to ensure we don't put out the orphanage in any way while we are there. So, God willing, we will have more of an answer come Thursday night.

Thanks for asking - it is on our minds a lot lately!

Big decisions are so hard sometimes! I bet you guys want to go so badly, but you're right, there are so many other factors. Hopefully things can fall into place and you have the opportunity to go.
