We live on the top floor of an apartment building, and although the whole heat-rising phenonemon was a fantastic bonus in the winter (especially because we pay for heat), I think this is going to work against us in the summer.
The windows in both the bedroom and office face the east. Although the oven-sensation helps with getting up in the morning, it doesn't help with staying awake while working during the day. And, did I mention its only 23 degrees outside?
I'm going to go get more coffee.

I remember the apartment that Lyla, Steven and I shared. We payed our bills there too, and yeah, in the winter it was nice being on top, but in the summer it was so hot! Then all we had was this dinky little window air conditioner in the living room, and our bedroom was down at the far end of the hallway. When it was really hot we camped out in the living room on the futon mattress. good luck guys!
i'm on the ground floor and I have a/c. It's on a lot lately and its only spring. It keeps the place cool, too cool sometimes. It's a newer one, maybe that's why...A bbq would be beneficial, turning the stove on is not helpful.
